Sworders Peter Petrou: auction catalogue with gold-foiled cover
Sworders is one of the UK’s most revered auction houses. Peter Petrou is a highly respected name in the world of art and antiquities. When the two came together for an auction of intricately beautiful pieces from around the world, Sworders knew they wanted to do something special for the catalogue.
To reflect the high value and prestige of the collection, Sworders requested a gold foil debossed title on the cover. This was contrasted with the use of matt laminated paper stock on the cover, providing a backdrop against which the foiling to gleam more brightly.
The collection covered a wide range of countries, eras and styles, and contained everything from precious metals to modern art, so it was important that every piece was perfectly recreated in print. We used a 4-colour process and Magno Satin paper, which gives a smooth, even feel and exceptional picture quality, throughout. This ensures crystal clear reproduction of the photography of burnished gold, bright paintings, and rich hardwoods.
The catalogue was printed in an oversize, larger-thanA4 format that’s uncommon for auction catalogues. This allowed for larger, more detailed photography, a more spacious layout, and contributed to the overall feeling of prestige in the catalogue that does justice to the Sworders Peter Petrou collection.
